Winner of the “Piolet d’Or” mountaineering award trusts in Katadyn, Optimus and Trek’n Eat
In autumn 2015, Frenchman Manu Pellissier first-ascented the east face of Cerro Kishtwar (6’173 m) in India. He was accompanied by the Slovenian mountaineers Marko Prezlj and Urgan Novak and the American alpinist Hayden Kennedy. Leader of the expedition was the famous Slovenian mountaineer Marko Prezli. In addition of being awarded the winning expedition of the Millet Expedition Project 2016, the team now also won the Piolet d’Or 2016, an annual mountaineering award issued by an international jury. This famous award was founded 24 years ago by the GMHM (Groupe Militaire de Haute Montagne) and the French magazine “Montagne” of Editions Niveales. The ‘Piolet d’Or” rewards outstanding expeditions with a sense of exploration - first ascents or openings - in alpine style (no oxygen, no preset ropes, no Sherpa…).
Fourteen kilograms of Trek’n Eat freeze-dried meals (only available in Europe), an Optimus Nova stove and Micropur water disinfection tablets kept them going strong during the expedition.
Since 2007, more than 300 adventurers from all over the world have received funding from the Millet Expedition Project and realized their dream in places across the planet. Katadyn France is supporting the expeditions with Katadyn, Optimus and Trek’n Eat products. Trek'n Eat products are only available in Europe.
